The refuge is situated 2298 m high, at the foot of the moraine of the Presanella glacier (Rhaetian Alps). Over the terrace the refuge is situated on there is a small typical alpine lake; this lake is very suggestive when the clear sky lets its water reflect the Presanella in its great beauty. 

The refuge was renovated in the years 2000/2001; it sleeps 56 in rooms of 4 until 26 beds, it has a restaurant sitting 80; a small hydro-electric power plant  furnishes the electric energy. 

 

Considering the easy access, the recent renovation and the marvellous view, the refuge represents  a  good opportunity for the families that want to spend an unusual day.                                                                                                                                                   

                                                                                                                                                                              

 

Next to the refuge there is a  winter bivouac that sleeps 25 and has an emergency telephone.

 

 

With the remains of some Austrian military huts dated back to the First World War Matteo Panizza, one of the former managers of the refuge, built a new and suggestive small church next to the refuge. The zone, which is situated on the frontier between Italy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire, has been involved in the war events which have left the signs.
